Gavin Laidlaw Chairman

gavinlymmrovers@hotmail.co.uk

For the last 12 years i have been involved with Lymm Rovers when my son started at the age of 7. Being a Lymm lad it does seem weird at times coaching kids on pitches at the High School where I used to play myself!

The ethos of our club is learning to play football in a safe and fun environment. We have worked hard to achieve our community status award from the FA.

We are the preferred partner, if you will, of the High School. The club works with them to provide coaching and leadership pathways for students. As well as this we have worked in tandem to try to improve facilities for the community.

At our core is to provide professional coaches with a minimum level 2 awards.

Our growing girls (and mums section) is something we are proud of.

When I am not helping with Club affairs you will find me fishing, playing golf or looking after patients at the local Dentist.

I have been the financial officer since the beginning of the 2017 season and since that point have moved the club forward we now have the capability to complete online payments and continuing from that helping develop the new website which should make interaction with the club more streamlined for players, manager and parents.

First and foremost I am the parent of two children who have both played at the club for the last few years and have thrived off the coaching and the club ethos and it has been a pleasure to watch them grow and progress.

This is a voluntary role for me and when not focussing on Lymm Rovers I am focussing on my day job as a Programme Manager managing large and quite often complex projects for a large telecommunications company.

Work at Lymm High School and part time casual coach at Altrincham FC. Support Man U and Bournemouth. Only have one hobby and that’s football. Love watching and playing the game. Am a fully licensed FA coach.

I believe what sets Lymm Rovers apart from the rest is their commitment to the community to provide everyone the opportunity to participate in a fun, safe and appropriate environment in a fully inclusive manner.
